A note from the Head Coach
Head Coach, Joshua Myers
Hey everyone! My name is Joshua Myers and I am SUPER excited to be working with 12 Oaks this summer. Before the summer gets started I want to tell you a bit about myself so you can get to know me better! I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and began swimming on swim team at the age of 4. Swimming runs in my family with both my father and grandfather being swimmers and coaches before me. My favorite events are the 100 and 200 Fly and in high school I regularly competed at State and Regional levels. I now swim on the Club Swim team here at NCSU.
I have one sister whose name is Reagan and is a junior in high school back in Alabama. I came up to North Carolina to go to college at NC State (Go Pack!) where I am studying Computer Science. In my free time I enjoy swimming, working out, playing music, skateboarding, hanging out with my fraternity brothers and friends, and meeting new people!
I began coaching when I was 16 for the team I had been swimming on since I was young (Swim Birmingham YMCA). I then accepted a head coaching position the summer before I came to college at Greystone Golf and Country Club just across the street from my old team, SBY. My philosophy when it comes to swimming and coaching is that I want to create an environment where every person involved in the team (swimmers, coaches, and parents) can learn to love swimming as much as I do and feel at home on the deck, in the pool, and spending time with the team. I can't wait to meet everyone this summer and I look forward to having a blast all summer!
